NPS is pleased to announce that it has signed a five-year contract with the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP), formed to establish a UK register of approved practitioners providing non-surgical cosmetic treatments.
NPS will provide data collection surrounding treatments and adverse incident reporting services to the registry. The company will collect data from the member practitioners and monitor their performance against a set of safety standards, reporting its findings and any adverse incidents to the Cosmetic Practice Standards Authority (CPSA), the standards-setting body for the sector.
“It is very reassuring that we can bring on board these hugely experienced partners with a long track record of activity and credibility in the non-surgical sector. The experience that our new partner [NPS] bring will be used by the JCCP and CPSA to ensure that the public will be able to access key information on-line to assure them of the credibility, qualifications and fitness to practise of those practitioners from who they are receiving treatment. Such practitioners will only be able to apply for entry to the Register when they have demonstrated compliance against a newly agreed set of educational, clinical and practice standards.”
~ Professor David Sines, Chair of JCCP
The JCCP replaces the previous registry, Treatments You Can Trust, whom NPS also worked with for several years. The decision by the JCCP/CPSA to award this new contract to NPS endorses the high quality of the services the company has provided. The sector currently has over 10,000 practitioners and is growing by around 30% a year; there’s lots of change happening in this largely unregulated market.
“I am particularly keen to see the establishment of a strong adverse incident reporting system so that we can start to better understand the risk and efficacy of these treatments in the interests of public protection. I look forward to working with those from Northgate Public Services who have a long history of working to gather such patient-related information.”
~ Mr Simon Withey, Plastic Surgeon, President of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and CPSA Chair
The JCCP registry will assist anyone who is interested in a non-surgical cosmetic treatment to find information about patient safety, and help them to choose a suitably approved and qualified practitioner.
